Sense of accomplishment is at the root of my passion for the construction industry. It’s very motivating and truly inspiring to experience the progress on a jobsite week by week and month by month overseeing and observing what a diverse group of people have accomplished. Starting with a University of Wisconsin Construction Administration degree, I personally bring almost 40 years of experience in the construction industry to the table with a valuable mix of 17 years serving the constructor’s role as CM/GC with the balance of the years serving as Owner’s Representative leading the project team on the journey to success.

A lesson that I’ve learned along the journey in life is that there are certain things that we all covet, that we all desire, want and need but which we can’t begin to receive until we first give them away to others. Respect is one of those things and is a cornerstone of my interactions with all people. Mutual widespread respect creates an environment that allows good people to do great things together. My passion for building things started at an early age and extends to my shop at home where I enjoy spending free time with my home projects. Ask me about the dining hutch that I built when I was 16 years old!

With 20 years of practical experience in the construction industry, I provide project owners a breadth of perspectives that is valuable throughout all phases of a building project.  Having experience both as a contractor/construction manager, as well as a healthcare owner, I can understand the priorities and needs of a project owner.  While most of my expertise is focused in the complex and ever-changing healthcare industry, I also have experience in the education, industrial, parking and community markets.  My background includes a Master’s level technical training in architectural and structural engineering, as well as construction management.  I studied both locally at the Milwaukee School of Engineering as well as at the Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, where my structural engineering training collaborated with coastal engineering.  Personally, my interests are strongly focused on faith, family and friends, sprinkled with a variety of hobbies including music, fiber arts, cultural food, travel and the great outdoors.  Ask me about my favorite kayaking excursions!

Making an owner’s vision a reality and doing so while building collaborative relationships among general contractors, subcontractors and owners is what success looks like for me. It’s not just about the project, but about constructing places where people learn, grow, heal, and expand limits.  My father’s work as a carpenter, including building our own family home, sparked my childhood interest in what construction work can create and drew me through my years earning a BA in Business Administration, then as a laborer, next a construction project manager, and finally an owner’s representative. Spanning more than 25 years, my industry experience, problem-solving-orientation, and innovative solutions have resulted in numerous medical, religious, education and other projects coming to life.  Each project is important to me—from small to large—and each is a place where humbly solving problems constructively and leveraging the positive relationships inspire me every day to come back and watch buildings grow. Family, card games, golf, travel to other countries, and volunteering bring joy to my spare time.
